She was 89 years of age at the time of her passing. Ellie was born to Carl and Josephine Grassi (nee Locati) on April 5, 1930, in Walla Walla.

She attended Walla Walla public schools and graduated from Walla Walla High School in 1947. Ellie’s early life was spent on the family farm where her family raised Sweet Onions and other vegetable crops. She was particularly close to her Grandmother and Grandfather, Enrico and Francesca Locati during her early years and throughout their lives.

Following high school Ellie worked, then married in 1948. She began her family with the birth of her first child Linda, followed by Lee and Michael. Ellie was part of the first generation of American women to work outside the home while raising a family.

In addition, she also volunteered her time by assisting with management and support for Walla Walla’s migrant farm labor organizations. Even with her busy schedule, she is remembered as always making time for children’s activities. Ellie volunteered as a Cub Scout Den Mother, Camp Fire Group Leader and spent countless hours driving her children to activities and practices, while never missing one of her children’s events.

Ellie worked at various jobs applying her skills in bookkeeping and business accounting. She worked for a number of years as the Office Manager for Sporleder’s Men’s Shop. In 1972 Ellie married Gene Jausoro.

Ellie and Gene moved to Kennewick in 1974 where he went into the Real Estate business and Ellie worked as the Bookkeeper for a hotel chain. Ellie eventually went to work as the Office Manager at Big Sky Heating and Air Conditioning in Kennewick. She gained experience in this business, and after several years Ellie bought the business, changing the name, and became the owner/operator of Tempco Heating and Air Conditioning.

Ellie owned the company until 1990, when she retired. Ellie and Gene then moved back to Walla Walla to live in the family home of her grandparents, and operate the roadside onion stand with her mother Josephine and her aunt Margaret for a number of years. During this time she was also a reliable volunteer at The St. Vincent DePaul Society thrift store and an active member of the Lady Elks.

Ellie is known to family and friends (many of whom are life-long friends) for her determination and willingness to work hard to meet her goals. Ellie is also known for her energy and fun-loving spirit. Ellie was an avid bowler for many years in leagues in the Walla Walla area.

Travel was also important to her. Ellie and Gene traveled to Europe where they visited Switzerland, Spain and Portugal. They also vacationed in Hawaii and Mexico.

In later years they took great joy in traveling with their RV club, The Many Waters RV Club. They truly enjoyed camping and the friendships they developed through this activity. She also took pleasure in spending time with friends by hosting pinochle groups or just enjoying an evening out with friends.

Ellie spent a great deal of time working on a family genealogy project and hand writing a family history to pass down to her children and grandchildren. She was very proud of her Italian roots and worked to see that her family history was known to, and appreciated by, her descendants. Ellie participated with Italian Heritage Club in Walla Walla for several years during her retirement.

The most important aspect of Ellie’s life was her family. This was true from the time she was a young girl, through her years as a parent and grandparent, and up to the final months of her very full life. Enjoyment of her family is her true legacy.

As she began to experience failing health, Ellie and Gene moved to assisted living in Spokane to be nearer to her children and grandchildren. Her life ended peacefully closest to the people who meant the most to her. Eleanor Jausoro was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Josephine Grassi; and her daughter-in-law, Margaret Boozer.

She is survived by her husband of 47 years, E. Gene Jausoro; her children, Linda Hollenbeck (Steve), Lee Williams (Dave), Michael Boozer; step-children, Chuck Jausoro (Leslie), and Michele Jausoro; nine (9) grandchildren; and fourteen (14) great-grandchildren. The family wishes to extend their deepest gratitude to Riverview Care Center in Spokane, Hospice of Spokane, and Sister Rosalie Locati S.P for the immeasurable kindness and care provided to Ellie. A memorial service will be held at the Herring Groseclose Funeral Home on May 31, 2019, at 11:00 AM, followed by a graveside service, and luncheon and remembrance gathering at St. Patrick’s School Hall.
