Elizabeth Ann Clewien, age 93, of Princeton, passed away on Thursday, January 10, 2019, at her daughter’s home in Ripon. She was born on April 5, 1925, in Fond du Lac, WI, a daughter of Gordon and Helen (Seipert) Lewis. Elizabeth married Arnold Clewien on October 25, 1947, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Princeton.
During the war, she worked at Speed Queen in Ripon and later worked for the Handcraft Company in Princeton for over 20 years. Betty also spent time caring for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Betty was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church of Princeton and the St. John’s Lutheran Ladies Aid.
She enjoyed putting puzzles together, watching the birds and puttering around her home. Betty loved watching Wheel of Fortune, Jeopardy, The Price Is Right, old movies and the Milwaukee Brewers. Those Betty leaves behind to cherish her memory include her 8 children, Laurie Vesely of Wausau, Rick (Karen) Clewien of Princeton, Janet (Dennis) Peoples of Ripon, Beth (Leland) Schultz of Montello, William (Nancy) Clewien of Berlin, Rebecca (significant other, Larry) Lang of Markesan, Lisa Schwandt of Ripon, Stacey (Corey) Schwandt of Fairwater; grandchildren, Jeremy (Dodie) Vesely, Jacki (Bruce) Pfaff, Kerry Vesely, Nikki (Pat) Mussfeldt; Ryan (friend, Jodi) Clewien, Rustin (Ashley) Clewien, Richard (Anje) Clewien; Kyle Peoples, Jacob (friend, Ashley) Peoples; Ed (Gretchen) Schultz, Craig (fiancée, Nina) Schultz; Allie (Adam) Henke, Ben Clewien, Courtney (Mike) Symicek; Katie (Seth) Lang, Megan Lang, Rachel (Kyle) Van Buren; Gabriel (friend, Jon) Schwandt, Andrea Schwandt; Tracie (friend, Timothy) Schwandt, Justin Schwandt, Logan Schwandt; great grandchildren, Addison and Kason Vesely, Zoe and Sophie Pfaff, Madelyn Check, Taylor and Jace Mussfeldt; Savanah and Chase Clewien; Kaidan and Wyatt Peoples; Marcus and Cody Schultz; Dylan and Hannah Schultz; Jaycee and Braxton Henke; Oliver Lang, Kaden Van Buren; great great grandchildren, Jax and Ryder Schultz; many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Gordon and Helen Lewis; husband, Arnold Clewien; great granddaughter, Isla Lang; siblings, Margaret May, Gwen Schmidt, Winifred Warnke, Calvin Lewis, Gordon “Corky” Lewis; 2 sons-in-law, Russell Vesely and Kurt Schwandt. A funeral service for Elizabeth Ann Clewien will be held on Tuesday, January 15, 2019, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation beginning at 9:00 a.m., at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 226 S. Clinton St., in Princeton. Pastor John Stelter will officiate.
