Elizabeth “Betty” Fleck, 92, Mandan, formerly of St. Anthony, passed away May 10, 2019 at Sanford Health, Bismarck. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM on Wednesday, May 15, 2019, at Christ the King Catholic Church, ND with Rev. Nick Schneider as celebrant.

Burial will be at St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Tuesday, May 14, 2019 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Christ the King Church in the Agnes Larkin Center, Mandan, with a Christian Mothers Rosary and Parish Vigil at 7:00 PM. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.

Betty was born on December 27, 1926 to George and Elizabeth (Barth) Yantzer in Mandan, ND. She was raised and educated in the St. Vincent area. Betty married Peter Fleck on October 28, 1947 at St. Vincent in a double wedding with Matt and Betty Yantzer.

They moved to a farm south of St. Anthony and raised cattle, hogs, and chickens. Betty enjoyed gardening, reading, playing cards, especially pinochle and 500 rummy. Betty was a wonderful cook and her German cooking was exceptional, especially her creamed chicken and gravy, plachinda, and cream cookies.

Betty was an active member of St. Anthony church and Christian Mothers for many years. She also was an avid Minnesota Twins fan and rarely missed watching a game, even until her last week. Betty will be deeply missed by her daughters, Victoria Schaaf, Mandan, Dolores (Mark) Karabensh, Mandan, Jennifer (Randy) Kuntz, Bismarck; sons, Leslie (Joyce) Fleck, Solen, Nick (Marcia) Fleck, Solen, Dale (Kathy) Fleck, Bismarck, Alan (Candace) Fleck, Mandan, Peter (Donnarae) Fleck, Mandan, Francis Fleck, Mandan; daughter-in-law, Lori Fleck; son-in-law, Bob Leingang; 46 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; brother, Arnold Yantzer, Gypsum, CO; sisters-in-law, Monica Yantzer, Bismarck, Ludmilla Ferderer, Bismarck; Hildegarde Steckler, Mandan, Kathleen Fleck, Solen; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Peter; parents; two sons, David and George; daughters, Vivian and Ludmilla; son-in-law, Ron Schaaf; grandson, Cranston Fleck; brothers, Tony Yantzer and Matt (Betty) Yantzer; sisters, Veronica (Gedius) Frohlich, Clara (Nick) Mosbrucker, Rose (John) Berger; in-laws, Kathy Yantzer, John and Margaret Schmidt, Mike and Katy Fleck, George Ferderer, Leonard Steckler, and Emanual Fleck. We would like to thank all of those who have helped with Betty’s care at Touchmark, Miller Pointe, and Sanford Health. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Central Dakota Humane Society or Farm Rescue.
