Mrs. Elizabeth Broome Townsend, 68, of Tyrone, passed away on Wednesday, March 28 at the Christian City health care facility in Union City. She was born on July 23, 1950, to the late L.J. Broome, Jr. and Marjorie Justiss Broome of Grantville, Ga. Beth brought her sparkling eyes, winning smile and positive outlook to many roles over the years, from Newnan Tigers cheerleader to dedicated labor department employee helping those in need, and many things in between.

But her best roles were reserved for family: wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and — to her great joy — grandmother. She is survived by her husband Herb Townsend of Tyrone; son Jim Wilson, daughter-in-law Kelly Wilson, and grandson Zack Wilson of Springfield, Virginia; sister Rosemary Joy, nephew Kyle Cavender, and niece Jennifer Joy, all of Newnan. Arrangements for a celebration of her life will be announced at a later time.
