ELIZABETH D. BAYNES was born to Samuel and Lucille Baynes on November 12, 1947 in Selma, Alabama. Elizabeth grew up in Selma, attending Selma High School. Following high school, Elizabeth relocated to Buffalo, New York.

She attended Bryant and Stratton Institute, attaining an Associate’s Degree. She is the former owner of Little People World Daycare in Buffalo, NY. Elizabeth was a member of Antioch Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend William A. Bunton, Jr., where she has remained an active member for 30 years.

During her faithful service at Antioch, Elizabeth served on Usher Board No. 1. Elizabeth served her church faithfully until her illness.

Elizabeth was a dedicated worker and a bright light in many people lives. She enjoyed going to Gospel concerts with her cousins, but most importantly, she loved taking care of everyone, and it was well exemplified by the good deeds she performed and the many meals she prepared with love and encouraging words. In this world, many will always remember her as a warrior, as she fought a good fight, finished the course, and ran the race.

Elizabeth received the greatest grace of eternal peace. On July 21, 2018, Elizabeth was called home from this life and into the open arms of the Creator. Elizabeth leaves to cherish her memories two daughters, Desma (William) McGhee and Arlinda Jones; grandchildren, DeVante Jones, Tymon Turner, Cajore Rodriquez, Aaliyah McGhee and Dejanae McGhee; six sisters, Margaret (Eddie) Dixon of Selma, AL, Hattie (Paul) Fields and Rose Williams, both of Louisville, KY, Lucille Hayes of Cleveland, OH, Virginia (Boris) Tucker of Montgomery, Al, and Lillian (Rodney) Stevens of Valley Grande, AL; three brothers, Arthur Baynes, Samuel (Sarah) Baynes, and Robert Baynes, all of Selma, AL and a host of other loving family and friends.

Elizabeth is preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Lucille Baynes. Family will receive friends Saturday, July 28, 2018, 10am at Antioch Baptist Church, 1327 Fillmore Ave. Funeral to follow at 11am.
