Mrs. Elizabeth Milliachip “Liz” Cobbe Babine, a resident of Ozark, died early Wednesday morning, February 6, 2019. She was seventy-eight years old. A memorial service for Mrs. Babine will be held 3:00 P. M. Saturday, February 16, 2019, from St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Ozark with Vicar Dr. Tom Nixon officiating.

Condolences may be expressed at www. HolmanFuneralHome.com Mrs. Babine was born April 20, 1940 in Washington, DC to the late Jerome Cobbe and Harriet Ryder Cobbe. She and her family lived in Bowie, Maryland during her earlier years where she was very active in the community.

While living there she established a teen center and developed a love for the theater. Mrs. Babine and her family moved to Ozark, Alabama in 1976 and soon made a significant impact on the community here. She was elected President of the PTA at Lisenby Elementary School.

They became active in St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Ozark, where she served on the Vestry as well a Senior Warden of the Vestry. Mrs. Babine went back to school and received her Bachelor of Science Degree from Troy State University while working at the Diversion Center in Dothan, Alabama. Liz met Jeffrey Babine in 1985 while working on her Master of Science Degree in Counseling and Physiology and they were married in 1987.

Mrs. Babine worked as a social worker with the Dale County Department of Human Res until her retirement there. She also worked as Director for Caper House, Spectracare in Cottonwood, Alabama. She was involved in the following organizations; Friends of the Library, Friends of Ozark, Former President of the Episcopal Church Woman’s organization for the Gulf Coast Dioceses, Dale County Council of the Arts and Humanities, Literary Club and served as mediator for the Dale County Housing Authority.

She always kept an active participation in helping children and families. Survivors include her husband of over thirty-one years, Jeffrey Babine; her children, Tom McMullen and wife Stacey McMullen, Lynda McMullen-Boyce and husband Keith Boyce, Jr.; their father Robert L. McMullen; loving granddaughter, Hana McMullen-Kadi; one sister, Linda Norton; one brother, Joe Cobbe, and lifetime friend, Jean Simms. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, Ozark, Alabama; or to the Dale County Rescue Mission, Ozark, Alabama.
