Elizabeth Dorgan, 87, of Groves, Texas passed away on Monday, January 21, 2019. Elizabeth was born April 14, 1931 in Carthage, Texas to J.W. McMillan and Ina Mae Attaway McMillan. She was raised in Port Arthur, Texas where she graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School and Port Arthur College.

At age 9, Elizabeth accepted Christ and was baptized at Memorial Baptist Church in Port Arthur. She was currently a member at First Baptist Church Groves. She served her Lord faithfully as church pianist, director of youth choir, Sunday school teacher, GA Director, and Bible study teacher.

Elizabeth was a retired secretary having worked for Gulf Oil, Jefferson Chemical, J&L Steel, and the Beaumont Courthouse for the D.A. She was also a piano teacher for over 25 years. Her musical talent touched the hearts of many.

She was an accomplished musician. The piano, harp, clarinet, ukulele banjo, Cajun accordion, and dulcimer were among the many instruments she played for weddings, churches, funerals, nursing homes, banks, and parties. Vacationing in the Colorado Rocky Mountains was a passion of hers.

She enjoyed painting acrylics and water colors on Rio Grande rocks and gourds as well as carving and wood burning aspen walking sticks from the Colorado Forests. While in Colorado she served as church pianist for services during the summer. She was a traditional quilter, and she made special quilts for each family member throughout the years that will be treasured forever.

She also enjoyed writing poetry and short stories, and she even published one book. She was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, John Joseph “Jack” Dorgan and her parents. Survivors include her daughter, Ann Brown and husband Alvie of Bridge City; sister, Marilyn Jernigan of Edmond, OK; grandchildren, Alysha Daniels and husband Aaron, Angela Frank and husband Kenny, Adam Brown and wife Jennifer; great-grandchildren Alexis, Aspen, and Austyn Daniels; Kennedy and Abby Frank; Brittyn and Bennett Brown.

A visitation for family and friends will begin at 12 noon, Friday, January, 25, 2019 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 1 p.m. with Reverend Bob Boone officiating.
