Elizer Martinez Gomez, “Ellie”, 73, of Carlsbad, NM passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at Carlsbad Medical Center, Carlsbad, NM. She was born on August 25, 1945 to Tomas Gomez and Esperanza Martinez Gomez in Carlsbad, NM and has been a life long resident. Ellie was preceded in death by both of her parents; brother, Tomas G. Martinez; and sister, Gloria Acosta.

Ellie is survived by her sister, Liza Izard and husband, Norman of Weslaco, TX; brother, Johnny M. Gomez and wife, Lorina of Alamogordo, NM; sister, Estella Florez of Carlsbad, NM; brother, Robert Gomez of Carlsbad, NM; sister-in-law, Elfida Martinez of Carlsbad, NM; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Denton-Wood Funeral Home. A vigil is scheduled for 6:00 PM, Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Saint Edwards Catholic Church.

Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for 10:00 AM, Monday, January 7, 2019 at Saint Edward Catholic Church with Fr. Pasala Hruday Kumar officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Gardens Memorial Park, Carlsbad, New Mexico.

Denton-Wood Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Pallbearers will be Albert Gonzalez, Ryan Franco, Harvey Torres, Brandon Detrick, Richard Franco, David Rodriguez, and Jay Detrick.
