Elliot Christian Elof Hofmeister Ellingsen was born September 4, 1993 to Kenneth Ellingsen and Mari (Hofmeister) Cummings. He was a life-long resident of Vashon Island, growing up near Dockton Park and spending a significant amount of his childhood roaming the wooded areas and beaches of Dockton. Elliot attended Vashon High School, where he excelled in athletics (football, lacrosse, and wrestling).

He graduated in 2012. Elliot worked at Granny’s Attic, where he scored some interesting and unique furnishings and clothing, while beginning to earn his reputation on the Island as a gentle, helpful person. He spent the last five years working as a Forklift Operator at Island Lumber and Hardware, which provided him with many opportunities for enhancing his reputation as a kind and humble soul.

After high school, Elliot attended The Art Institute of Seattle and became interested in film and photography, both of which he was very talented at. Elliot was always taking photos and videos of his friends, of nature, of events, and had recently started his own company in hopes of chasing his dream of becoming a photographer and videographer at a professional level. In remembering Elliot, his community call him genuine, full of light, kind hearted, humble, an excellent cook, gifted, creative, hardworking, smart, kind, helpful, and a good friend.

People remember his kind heart and his contagious smile. Elliot knew how to make people laugh, how to make people feel included, and how to make sure everyone around him was having a good time. His infectious laughter and his affection for fun will be missed.

Elliot is preceded in death by his grandparents Barney and Bertha Hofmeister, grandfather Richard Ellingsen and his father, Ken. He is survived by his mother Mari, grandparents Bill and Sharon Bennett, aunts and uncles, cousins, friends, and his best friends Aubrey Harrington, Anthony Sawyer and Robert Maples. Ken remembered taking Elliot to watch the movie Godzilla when Elliot was only 6 years old; Elliot came out crying lots of tears, and when told that it was just a movie, Elliot cried “Yes, she was just trying to save her babies…”.

. Ken thought to himself: “he’ll be okay, has empathy. Tough on outside, tender inside”.

Indeed, this is the Elliot we all knew and loved… everybody loved Elliot! Elliot was a champion, and he left a legacy. Elliot passed away peacefully due to complications from Type-1 Diabetes on October 1, 2018.

Please join us in a celebration of Elliot’s life at 1:00 on Saturday, October 20 at Bethel Church on Vashon Island.
