Elrene’s Obituary Elrene Elizabeth Mangold, age 93 passed away Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at the McCrite Plaza Nursing Home in Topeka. Elrene was born December 20, 1925 in Topeka the daughter of Everett W. and Ida C. (Stoltenberg) Gish. She lived for brief periods of time in Elkart, Indiana and then Garden City, Kansas where she attended her first year of school.

Her parents then bought a 22 ½ acre farm in Topeka which is on N.W. 35th Street. Elrene graduated from Seaman High School in 1943. She worked for the State Workmen’s Compensation Commission from 1943 – 1947.

After she was married she was a housewife for a number of years. She later worked as a bookkeeper for D.D. Richards Supply Co. from 1971 – 1973, E-Kan Fire Equipment Co. from 1973 – 1977 and Professional Builders Specialties, Inc. from 1984 – 1990. She married John E. Mangold April 13, 1947.

They lived on a farm near Meriden for 55 years. He preceded her in death February 20, 2002. Elrene was a member of the Topeka North Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses for many years.

She was active in telling others about the good news of God’s Kingdom and was baptized November 29, 1958. She is survived by two daughters, Sherri Ann Mangold, Lori Lee (Mel) Schappert of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; two sisters, Shirley Jo Johnson of Oceanside, California and Sandra Sue Ormsby of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and one granddaughter, Kali Schoon. Memorial services will be Friday, May 24, 2019 at 11:00 at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 2701 SE Croco Road, Topeka, Kansas 66605.
