Elsie Smith, January 09, 1942 — March 05, 2019

Elsie’s Obituary Elsie M. Smith, age 77, of Mesa, Arizona, formerly a longtime resident of Northville, passed away March 5, 2019. She was born on January 9, 1942 in Northville, Michigan; daughter of Harry and Rachel (nee Edwards) Sedan. She graduated from Northville High School; Class of 1960.

Elsie was united in marriage to Roger Smith on May 21, 1982; they spent 21 loving years together as husband and wife until his death in 2004. Elsie retired from American Airlines after 30 years with the company; beginning her career as a ticket agent, she also worked for many years as a boarding agent and finally in cargo. She was a member of Velda Rose United Methodist Church in Mesa, AZ.

She was very active with the United Methodist Women and the large sale they put on each year that funded many of the missions at the church. Elsie did beautiful ceramic work; she created statues, nativity sets, and decorations for every holiday which she often gifted to family and friends. She also enjoyed sewing and embroidery.

Elsie is survived by her loving step-daughter, Dove Bergman; her granddaughter, Makena Bergman; her brother Harry Sedan; and her nieces, Barbara Sedan and Cynthia (David Couch) Sedan-Couch. She was preceded in death by her husband and her parents. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 16, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Rural Hill Cemetery, 100 Rural Hill Dr., Northville.

Rev. Dr. Douglas W. Vernon from First United Methodist Church will officiate the service. She will be laid to rest next to her husband.
