Mrs. Elvia Louise Jordan May 19, 1929 – March 02, 2019 Share this obituary Sign Guestbook Elvia Polk Jordan, 89, of Jay Florida, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2019. Elvia was a beloved Mother, Grandmother, Aunt, Sister, and caring friend. Born Elvia Louise Polk on May 19, 1929 in Jay, Florida.

She graduated from Jay High School. She was very athletic in high school, and continued to play on various ball teams as a young adult. In her later years, she was able to be a basketball coach for her grandchild.

She became a fulltime homemaker to raise her two sons, and babysit her grandchildren. She has been a member of First Baptist Church of Jay, Florida all her life, where she taught Sunday School and sang in the choir for many years. She also enjoyed baking cakes, and selling them to the community for weddings, birthdays, and other various occasions.

She loved volunteering at the Jay Hospital, and did so for many years of her life. Working in her yards was a passion that she enjoyed almost to the end of her life. Elvia is preceded in death by her husband, William James Jordan, father, Rufus Polk, mother, Annie Laura Magaha Polk, brothers, Hubert Polk, Bill Polk and Henry Polk; her sister, Vera Polk Rodich; step-mother, Tennie Polk; and her oldest grand-daughter, Karissa Jordan Stewart.

She is survived by her children, Billy Rufus Jordan (Carol), and Kenneth David Jordan (Teresa); sister, Alma Settle (Bert); step-sister, Louise Gillman; sister in love, Dollie Polk, and brother in love, Hank Rodich; grandchildren, Shaena Jordan Saxton, Brent William Jordan; step-grandchildren, Karen Witt (Mark), and Elton Bates (Michelle). Elvia was survived by many great grandchildren, Valerie Godwin, Blake Saxton, Seth Stewart, Mason Jordan, Matthew Saxton, Solan Jordan, Sam Stewart, and Kendall Jordan; step-great grandchildren, Cody Witt, Kady Witt, Jackie Bates, and Helton Bates. She is also survived by two step-great-great-grandchildren, Emma and Ellie; numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces; grandnephews; great-grandnieces, great-grandnephews, and many great friends.

Visitation Services for Elvia Jordan will be held Wednesday, March 6, 2019 at 1 P.M. until a 2 P.M. service time at First Baptist Church of Jay, Jay, Florida with Rev. Dr. George L. Fredericks, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Jay, Florida.

Pallbearers will be Phillip Polk, Rob Rodich, Roger Acree, Michael Booker, Robert Booker. The family wishes to thank Dr. C. David Smith, the nurses, and staff at Jay Hospital, and all the staff at The Terrace Assisted Living Facility for the love and care given to their sister, mom, grandmother, and aunt during her time of illness.
