Elvira Gooden Nathaniel, August 12, 1929 — December 31, 2018

Obituary for Elvira Gooden Nathaniel Life Reflections Elvira Gooden-Nathaniel was born on August 12, 1929, in Sumter County, South Carolina to the late Ransom and Susan Gooden. Elvira was one of 10 children. She fought a long hard and battle with illness, and never lost her faith.

She departed this life on December 26, 2018 at her home in Sumter, SC. Elvira parents preceded her in death. She was educated in Sumter County School System.

Elvira and Isadore attended the same school where they met. Looking back over his life, Isadore said, “I might have had a lot going on back then”, but “Vi”, she was the chosen one. He treasured and loved her.

She accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. Elvira served at Orangehill A.M.E Church where she sang in the Senior Choir for over 30 years or more. She was friendly, loving and easy to talk to.

Elvira loved to cook and could cook anything. Sweet potato pies and homemade biscuit with heap of this and a pinch of that then baked with love. To this union, God blessed Elvira and Isadore with five children, Susan, Eddie Gene, Earnest, Isadore III, and Robert.

Elvira is survived by her husband of 75years, Isadore Nathaniel, Jr., one daughter; Susan Emma Grant (Robert) Newport News, Virginia. Four sons; the late Eddie Gene Nathaniel (Margaret), Earnest Nathaniel (Geraldine) Effingham, South Carolina, Isadore Nathaniel III (Sarah) of Sumter, South Carolina, the late Robert Nathaniel (deceased at birth). Three sisters-in-law; Elizabeth Mitchell, Alice Nathaniel and Annabelle Gooden.

Elvira brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Lewis Gooden, James Gooden, Samuel Gooden, Nathaniel Gooden, and Fred Gooden, Agnes Keith, Liza Jane Gallishaw and Lily Gooden.
