June 27, 2018 Eric W. Dahlstrom ORANGE- Eric W. Dahlstrom, 64, of East Main Street, died Saturday, June 23, 2018 at the University of Massachusetts Memorial Healthcare Campus in Worcester. Born in Brocton on November 20, 1953, he was a son of the late Albert A. and Helen I. (Ebbesen) Dahlstrom and grew up in Orange and graduated from Greenfield High School in 1974. Eric enlisted into the United States Navy on February 10, 1975 and served aboard the USS Woodrow Wilson submarine.
He was honorably discharged on May 8, 1981. On December 12, 1987, Eric married Kathlene “Kathy” (Stroup) and have enjoyed over 30 years of marriage. Eric had been a machinist for Micron in Fitchburg before retiring.
He had previously worked at the former Adams Chevorlet , Duall Plastics, Rodney Hunt Company and Raynor of Westminster. Eric loved time with his family and friends. He also enjoyed fishing, military history, board games, hiking, and air shows.
A lover of music, Eric had been a drummer in a couple bands in his younger years and followed several local bands. An avid photographer, Eric would take numerous pictures of birds, plants, animals, people and just about everything else. Survivors include his wife, Kathlene Dahlstrom of Orange; children, Benjamin Dahlstrom (Sabrina) of Athol, Jeffrey Dahlstrom of Greenfield, Bryon Wickline (Courtney) of Athol, and Timothy Wickline (Michelle) of Wendell; grandchildren, Taylor Dahlstrom, Ashton Dahlstrom, Daniel Wickline, Abby Wicklline, Brianna Wickline and Chase Wickline; aunts and uncles, Bernice Mastro (Andrew) of Lakeville and Kenneth Dahlstrom (Linda Yuoconis) of Orange; nephews, nieces and grand nephews and nieces, Peter Dahlstrom and his son Noah, Todd Chaisson (Missy)and their children Todd Jr. and Colby, Heidi Richardson (Richard) and their children Dylen, Jason, and Sydney; brothers in law, Keith Stroup (Trudy) and their children, Nicole, Ashleigh and Disree, Kevin Stroup (Debra), and Keane Stroup (Pakawan) and their children Nicholas and Kristopher; sister in law, Kimberly Richards and her son and, Lucas Richards, and grandnephews and nieces Madison Richards, Myles Richards, Mason Richards and Mia Richards.
Eric was predeceased by his father on September 29, 2006 and his mother on October 3, 2006. He was also predeceased by a sister, Laura Dahlstrom on August 27, 1997. Calling hours will be held on July 7, 2018 from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange.
Following calling hours, interment with military honors will take place at South Cemetery, Orange. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Road, Waltham, MA 02452. Witty’s Funeral Home, 158 South Main Street, Orange, is directing the arrangements.
