Erlene Tate was born March 29, 1937 to Elva (Charles) and George Trotter in Prescott, Arkansas. She departed this earthly life on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at Parkview Hospital. She accepted Christ at an early age and was a member of Canaan Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor Gregory W. Rowland, Sr. On December 1, 1956, she united in holy matrimony to Jonas Tate, Jr

They were married for 60 years at the time of his death in 2016. In the mid 1960’s they relocated to Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was employed by Fort Wayne State Developmental Center and retired after many years of dedicated service.

She leaves to cherish her loving memory her son, Steven (Janice) Tate; daughters, Linda (Fred) Rice, Benita Tate and Margaret Campbell all of Fort Wayne; sisters, Dorothy Trotter of Fort Wayne and Geneva Gulley of Prescott, AR; and a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jonas Tate, Jr.; parents, George and Elva Trotter.
