OBITUARY Ernest Ray Cahoon Jr. October 16, 1944 – October 19, 2018 Ernest “Ray” Cahoon, Jr., 74, of New Bern went to be with his Lord on Friday, October 19, 2018. Ray was born in New Bern on October 16, 1944. He joined the Army and served proudly for six years and worked at Weyerhaeuser for 40 years.

Ray enjoyed hunting, fishing, and devoted his time to the New Bern Battlefield site. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Sarah, and sister, Fran. Ray is survived by his wife of almost 25 years, Linda; children, Ben (Amanda), John (Jennifer), Johnny Ray, Jennifer (Tommy), Rufus (Heidi), and Denise (Allen); grandchildren, Hunter, Taylor, Owen, Wesley, Mackenzie, Hillary, Brice, and Caleb; and great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and J.J. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ray’s name may be made to the New Bern Historical Society.
