ESCO MABES, 71, of Sidney, passed away at 12:28 A.M. Sunday, January 27, 2019 AM at Wilson Health. He was born on October 15, 1947 in Union County, Tennessee, the son of the late Willie and Julia (Norton) Mabes. On August 19, 1972 he married the former Georgia Hoover, who survives along with two children, Jordan (Shirley) Mabes of Sidney, and Chelsea Mabes of Lafayette, IN; two grandchildren, Ngoc Nu and Nam Viet Mabes; siblings, George, Bonnie, Hazle, Buster, Arnold “Dave”, Margie, Willie, Oscar and Ruby; and sister-in-law, June.

He was preceded in death by three siblings, Chet, Mary and Paul. Mr. Mabes was a veteran of the United States Army. He served during the Vietnam War and was a purple heart recipient.

Esco was retired from the Ford Motor Company of Lima where he worked as a machine repair specialist for more than 20 years. Prior to that, he worked for the former Copeland Corporation. Esco had a strong work ethic and a great sense of humor.

He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and almost anything that involved the outdoors. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family, who will all miss him dearly. Funeral Services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019 at 6:00 PM at Cromes-Edwards Funeral Home with Pastor John Young officiating.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday from 4:00 P.M. until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church in Esco’s memory. Guestbook condolences and expressions of sympathy may be made to the Mabes family at the funeral home’s website, www.
