Funeral Services for Estella “Stella” Martinez will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 21, 2019 at Horber Funeral Chapel in Las Animas, Colorado with Pastor Diane Hutson officiating. Visitation will be held at Valley Memorial Funeral Chapel in Lamar, Colorado on Wednesday, February 20, 2019 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. and at Horber Funeral Chapel on Thursday, February 21, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Per Stella’s request, cremation will follow the service and inurnment will take place at a later date at Bent/Las Animas Cemetery.

Estella Louise Martinez, known to most as Stella, was born on March 24, 1948 in Las Animas, Colorado to Archie Sr. and Janie (Duran) Martinez. She passed away on February 17, 2019 in Lamar, Colorado at the age of 70. Stella was known as a loving, caring person.

She enjoyed fishing, camping, playing Bingo, and spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by her family. Stella is survived by her significant other, Armando Baeza of Lamar, Colorado; children, Brenda Martinez of Lamar, Colorado, Curtis (Crusita) Tyler of Goodwell, Oklahoma, Travis Tyler of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Matt (Georgette) Tyler of Las Vegas, Nevada, Eric Montoya of Lamar, Colorado, Brian Martinez (Summer Hilzer) of Lamar, Colorado, and Amanda (Wallace) Lathrop of La Junta, Colorado; siblings, Archie Jr. (Martha) Martinez of Rocky Ford, Colorado and Gary Martinez of Lamar, Colorado; 18 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren; many other relatives and a host of friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie Martinez Sr. and Janie Martinez; and granddaughter, Brandi Michelle Martinez. Memorial contributions may be made to Horber Funeral Chapel, P.O. Box 431, Las Animas, CO 81054.
