OBITUARY Esther Johnson October 25, 1926 – January 22, 2019 Esther M. Johnson age 92, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. She is survived her daughter, Deborah (Donald) Bane; grandchildren, Daniel (Kelly) Temple, Brian (Amy) Temple, David (Kari) Bane, Timothy (Lisa) Bane, Sarah (Joshua) Smith and Bradley (Cari) Johnson; great grandchildren, Elizabeth, Danielle, Christian, Jameson, Max, Trevor, Adeline and Wyatt; sisters, Jeanette Burke, Shirl Smith and Patricia DenHartog and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Norman R. Johnson; daughter, Charlotte Temple and son, Eugene Johnson.

Esther was born October 25, 1926 in Dyer, IN to the late Henry and Elizabeth Koepl and attended St. Joseph School. In May of 1945 she married the love of her life, Norman R. Johnson and together they raised 3 children. Esther enjoyed cooking, upholstery and traveling with Norman to their cottage in Wisconsin.

Esther was a loving daughter, sister, wife, mother and grandmother and will truly be missed by all whose lives she touched. Funeral Services will be held on Monday, January 28, 2019 at 12:00 PM at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home (8178 Cline Avenue Crown Point, IN) with Rev. Theodore J. Mens officiating.

Private interment to follow at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Crown Point, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday morning from 10:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Unity Hospice 8407 Virginia Street Merrillville, IN 46410.
