Eugene “Gene” Robert Warner, 78 of Harbor Springs, died February 2, 2019 at his home. Gene was born on November 14, 1940 in Petoskey, Michigan. His parents were Marvin and Anna (Vivant) Johnston.

Gene attended school at Harbor Springs Public School until joining the United States Army. On May 26, 2001 he married Patricia Williams. He worked as a plumber at MacGregor’s for most of his life until retiring in 2001.

Gene loved spending time tending his vegetable gardens. He enjoyed cooking and canning all the vegetables he grew. He was an excellent baker and will be remembered for his famous cookie recipe.

He liked being outdoors, whether it was farming, riding his tractor or just enjoying the day. Gene was strong willed but always remained soft spoken, kind and honest. Gene is survived by his wife, Patricia Warner; children, Terry Warner, Lynda Warner, Karl Warner, Marty Warner, Arvin (Angie) Warner, Ben Warner and Sue (Jerry) Smith; step children, Wendy (Jim) Tackett, Steve Edwards, and James (Sue) Edwards; as well as a large extended family, many grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Gene is preceded in death by his first wife, Carol; daughter, Carla Warner; and his brother, Frank Warner. There will be a memorial service at Stutsmanville Chapel on Saturday, March 2, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Reverend Ryp Hankins will officiate.
