Obituary of Eugenio Moreno, III Eugenio C. Moreno III “Placido Charo” Age 76, of Joliet, IL for the past 12 years, joined the Lord on Monday, October 22, 2018, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer, at home surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Eugenio was born on September 5, 1942, the son of the late Eugenio R. II and Sophia (nee Charo) Moreno, in Corpus Christi, TX. He met the love of his life, Beatriz (nee Perez) on October 4, 1985 and they were married exactly one year later on October 4, 1986.
A retired TSGT with the United States Air Force, Eugenio served from 1960-1980. His decorated career included serving in Vietnam from 1971-1973 and being stationed in various places such as Turkey, Thailand, Okinawa, Hawaii, Alaska, Michigan, New Mexico and Texas. Eugenio ended his military career touring with the USO in Alaska doing what he loved to do, entertaining and sharing his love for music.
In retirement, he worked in administration for Harza Engineering and security for Levy Security. He will be remembered for his humor, guitar playing, singing and cooking. Eugenio is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 32 years, Beatriz (nee Perez) Moreno; his beloved children, Renea Dawn (Daniel Mendez) Griese, Brian (Monica) Moreno, Carmen Celestina Moreno, Scott Allen Moreno, Robert (Michelle) Moreno and Sarah G. Moreno; loving grandfather to Jessica, James, Kenneth, Kelvin, Amanda, Joseph, Jeremy, Robert, Terese, Sofia, Devin and Harley; loved by his mother-in-law, Enriqueta Perez and all of his in-laws; his brothers, MSGT Vincente (Esther) Moreno and Michael A. (Angel) Moreno; his sisters, Dolores (the late Ramiro) Estrada, M. Sofia (Roberto) Martinez, M. Lamar, Mora-Ismael and Esperanza (Arturo) Saldivar; and was the cherished uncle to many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his parents; one brother, SSG Valentin Moreno; and one sister, M. Josefina Solis. Funeral Services for Eugenio C. Moreno III will be held on Friday, October 26, 2018, at 9:15 a.m., from the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black at Essington Roads, Joliet, IL, to Church of St. Jude, 2212 McDonough Street, Joliet, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery where full military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the United States Air Force and the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad. Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2018 from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home chapel.
