Obituary for Ms. Eva Arlene Hooks Page Ms. Eva Hooks-Page was born in Tatums, Oklahoma, to James and Louise Van Hooks, who preceded her in death. She was the youngest of ten born to their union. She grew up in Tatums and attended Tatums school and also attended church at Bethel Baptist Church in Tatums as a youth and young adult.

She moved to Los Angeles, CA, with her sisters: Fairella, Frances, Mary, and Maxine and met and married the love of her life, Audrey T. Page in about 1948. He preceded her in death. Eva joins her parents, James and Louise; husband, Audrey T. Page; son, Leon; siblings: Russell, Hayes, Matthew, baby boy, Melvina, Mary, Maxine, Fairella, Viola, and Frances, who all preceded her in death.

She leaves to cherish many nieces, nephews, and many great, great-great, and great-great-great nieces and nephews (too many to name individually) that she loved and who loved her. She leaves also friends, some new, some old, who relentlessly stayed the course with her for many years. Aunt Eva once said to a news reporter in El Centro during Black History Month, “The playing field is still uneven and there’s still room for progress”.

The final portion of our family’s foundation has been engraved and signed with the signature of The Name above all names, Jesus penned in His blood saying “Well done though good and faithful servant”.
