November 19, 2018. Eva was born on June 3, 1930 in Queens, NY, and grew up and attended school in Clyde, NY. She later earned a B.S. degree from the University of Rochester and was a long-time Eastman Kodak employee.

Eva was an active member of the Irondequoit Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, serving as a NY State Regent, and most recently volunteered in the library at the Harvey Ely Chapter House. Her strong interest in genealogy led her to successfully complete and self-publish a Hoy family history. Eva was predeceased by her beloved husband of over 40 years, John C. (Jess) Haelen; her parents, Alfred and Ocie (Snively) Hoy; sister, Winifred (Hoy) Barnes and brother-in-law, Robert Barnes; brother, Daniel Hoy and sister-in-law, Jane (Hermenet); brothers-in-law, Robert Haelen, Thomas Haelen, and Robert Wahl.

Survivors include sisters-in-law, Nancy C. Haelen (Robert), Dorothy B. Haelen (Thomas), both of Rochester; Lorraine Haelen Wahl (Robert), Florida; several nephews and nieces. Private interment in Webster Union Cemetery. Donations in Eva’s honor can be directed to the Irondequoit Chapter DAR, Hervey Ely Chapter House, 138 Troup St., Rochester, NY, 14608.
