Eva Govan Huron June 14, 1943 – March 14, 2019 Share this obituary Send Flowers Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card Eva Govan Miller Huron was born in Cabarrus County, North Carolina on June 14, 1943 to the late Eirthley and Susie Govan. At the age of seventy-five, after living a full and blessed life, she went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, March 14, 2019. Eva was educated in the Washington, D.C. and Cabarrus County school districts; she graduated from Logan High School in 1962.

In June of that year, she married the love of her life, Louis Richard Miller. The couple resided in West Charlotte while Eva worked at Cannon Mills. From this sacred union, Richie and Tiffany were born.

Her children were her highest priority, and she ensured that they were at the forefront of any outside decisions she made. While working, she continued her education as a student at Rhema Bible College. She continued working outside the home in the Civil Service system as an employee with the Internal Revenue Service and the Social Security Administration.

In the area of serving, she was a very active member at Bellefonte Presbyterian Church faithfully serving in children’s church ministry. Additionally, she served as a member of the church’s Spiritual Singers, the trustee and elder boards, and as the Christian Education Director. In her latter years, she actively served at Seed of Faith Ministries in Charlotte, NC.

She received numerous awards for her Christian ministry service as well as awards for her dedication to her career, which included the Deputy Commissioner Citation. As a member of Las Amigas, Inc., she completed leadership training and received a service award for her contributions to and participation in this public service organization. Eva valued spending time with family and friends the most.

However, she enjoyed reading, cooking, studying her bible, dancing, gardening, and conversing, to the utmost, on many topics. The three-layered priorities in her life included: faith, family and fellowship. She loved the Lord and served him by serving others unselfishly.

She regularly invited family and friends to share a meal and to have celebrations; she opened her home to offer a place of comfort and refuge to those in need. Eva was preceded in death by her husband, Richard. Those left to cherish her with fond and loving memories are: her son, Richie Miller (Karen), Mansfield, TX and her, daughter, Tiffany Williams (Thomas), Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren, Alana Miller, Doria Miller, Thomas Williams, Jr, and Thaddeus Williams.

Her brothers and sisters are: Eirthley Govan, Jr., Kannapolis, NC, Barbara Driggins (Cornelius), Lanham, MD, Joseph Govan, Waldorf, MD; Phyllis Boyce, Charlotte, NC, Amelia McDaniel (Billy), New Castle, DE, Wesley Govan, New Castle, DE, Henry Govan, Harrisburg, NC, Dwayne Govan (Arlene), Charlotte, NC, Joe Nathan (Dadria),Harrisburg, NC, Israel Govan, Harrisburg, NC, Chris Govan (Jewel), Raleigh, NC, and Sedrick Govan (Keyshawn), Charlotte, NC; and a host of nephews, nieces, other relatives, and friends. Eva was a daughter, sister, wife, mother, best friend, fellow servant, and neighbor. She was a blessing to many, but she often said that she received the blessing.

In spited of life’s challenges, changes, and difficulties, she always remembered to thank God for all He’s done and given to her. One of her favorite scriptures is Psalm 32:8, which she quoted regularly. The funeral service is scheduled for Friday, March 22, 2019 at Bellefonte Presbyterian Church in Harrisburg, North Carolina.

The visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. -1:00 P.M. followed by the funeral service at 1:00 P.M. Lamb Funeral Home Inc. will be serving the family.
