funeral services for Evelyn Sonsteng of Roseau will be held on Tuesday, January 8th at 5:00 PM at Helgeson Funeral Home in Roseau. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Interment will be at the Moe-Rose Cemetery at a later date.

Evelyn Florence Sonsteng was born August 27, 1919, to Charles and Anna Johnson. Evelyn departed this life in the certain hope of eternal life on January 2, 2019. Evelyn was born and baptized in Sandstone, MN.

At the age of 1-1/2 her family moved to Center City, MN, and soon moved to Forest Lake, MN, where she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith and graduated from high school. Evelyn was united in marriage to Hans Sonsteng in 1960 and they made their home in Kenyon and Cottage Grove, MN. After retirement Hans and Evelyn moved to Salol, MN, to the place where Hans was born and raised.

Here they lived the next twenty-seven years, spending winters in South Texas. In 2002 they built a home in Roseau. Hans passed away in 2008.

Evelyn moved to Oakcrest Senior Housing in 2013, where she made her home until recently. She passed away on January 2, 2019, at Roseau LifeCare Manor. Evelyn is survived by many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Anna Johnson; husband, Hans; six sisters, Tillie, Clara, Esther, Eileen, Mabel, Agnes, five brothers, Martin, Ted, Herman, Fred, and Don.
