Evelyn Lucille (Lucy) Ryan, age 85, went home to be with Jesus on June 22, 2018, at Lakeview Memory Care Community in Bloomingdale, IL. Lucille was born in Union Township, IL, to Frank and Nannie (Jacobs) Mills. Two memorial services will be held in Lucille’s honor.

The first memorial service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, July 27, 2018, at Bethsaida Church in Dieterich, IL. A second service will be held at 3:00 pm on Sunday, July 29, 2018, at Hultgren Funeral Services in Wheaton, IL, with a visitation from 2:00 – 3:00 pm. Lucille was born on January 28, 1933.

Called “Lou” by some and “cille” by others, Lucille was best known for her persevering attitude. A mother of five, she was quick to respond to the needs of her family and others. She spent many hours caring for her children, grandchildren, and the children in her church’s nursery and toddler classes.

As her children grew she entered the workforce. She began work as a quality inspector at a manufacturing company and ended her work years as a data entry operator for a large insurance organization. In each role Lucille left a legacy of “do your best” and “don’t leave until the work is finished”.

Lucille was an avid reader and loved a good mystery novel. She enjoyed time outdoors and often walked through the local nature centers and parks. She wasn’t afraid to banter about politics, religion, or anything else she fancied.

She will be remembered for her wit, humor, forthrightness, and commitment to her convictions. Lucille is survived by her children: Susan Drake (Steve) of Tucson, AZ, Joyce Ostberg (Brian) of Wheaton, IL, Beth Billstrom (Mark) of Waconia, MN, Jill Dopp (Tony) of Sedalia, CO, and Michael Ryan of Allen, TX; grandchildren Eric Drake, Kyle Drake (Tara), Colin Ostberg, Rhianna Ostberg, Ceira Ostberg, Jacob Billstrom, Joseph Billstrom, Keller Billstrom, and Morgan Dopp; great-grandchildren Grace Drake, Luci Drake, Korbin Drake, and Peyton Drake. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Nannie Mills; brothers Earl and Dean Mills; sisters Thelma Mills, Avanelle Loy, and Romaine Vickers.

Memorials may be directed to: Bethsaida Church or Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, 322 8th Avenue, 7th Floor, New York, NY 10001.
