Evelyn Marie Slocum of Blanchester passed away Friday April 20, 2018 at age 94. She was born on June 6, 1923 to Carl and Hazel (Bond) Conover. She is survived by a loving family.
Son; Dan (Jo) Slocum; Grandchildren; Doug and Margie Slocum, Kirby and Lauren Slocum, Randy and Julie Slocum, Adam and Amanda Slocum, Tony and Shannon (Slocum) Young, Shelly Slocum, Rick Slocum Jr., Truly Slocum, Harvey and Angel (Slocum) Moore, Shane and Melissa Slocum; daughters-in-law, Hope Slocum and Mara Slocum; sister-in-law, Alice (Slocum) Anderson; nieces, Barbara Mee and Peggy Johnson. 21 great grandchildren; From Dan; Kyle Slocum, Ethan Slocum, Brady Slocum, Carter Slocum, Dean Slocum, Andrea (Slocum) Campbell. From Rick; Olivia Slocum, Allison Broussard, Skylor Slocum, Brittany Honchell, Alexis Honchell, Ashley Moore, Tabitha Moore, Kholee Slocum, Shawn, Kaylee and Keagan; From Jerry: Patrick and Megan (Young) Difrancisco, Andrew Young, Devin Young and Ethan Lake; 2 great great grandchildren; Parker Slocum and Noah Slocum.
Nephews and Neices; Steve and Mark Conover, Martha Hensley, Luana Schulz, Jr. Weiderhold. Preceded in death by her husband, Robert E. Slocum; sons, Rick Slocum and Jerry Slocum; sisters, Nonie Johnson, Reba Weiderhold; brothers, Hubert Conover and Frank Conover; parents Carl and Hazel Conover; nephews David Weiderhold and Carlene LeForge. Evelyn was well known and loved in the community for her 30 years of service as a Kroger employee/ cashier.
Her hobbies included ceramic painting, sewing and crafts. Evelyn learned to drive later in her life which then opened up the world of many shopping trips with her sister Nonie. One love of her life was Pokie the yellow cat.
He is a feisty guy who for years was great company to Evelyn. He now lives happily with her daughter-in-law Hope. “Evie” always said the staff of the Blanchester Laurels was so good to her and there was no doubt she was a favorite there.
Thanks to the staff of the Laurels for their care. Evelyn’s family was the great love and center of her life. She will be missed but remain in our hearts forever.
Funeral services will be held at 12 noon on Friday April 27, 2018 at the Tufts Schildmeyer Family Funeral Home, 120 W. Main St. Blanchester, OH 45107, where friends will be received from 10 AM until time of service. Interment Martinsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery.
Continued food and fellowship will follow the burial at the Blanchester Church of Christ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Blanchester Senior Citizens, 707 N. Broadway Blanchester, OH 45107 or the Blanchester Church of Christ 911 Cherry St. Blanchester, OH 45107.
