OBITUARY Felix Mertens October 27, 1939 – October 5, 2018 Felix E. Mertens, 78, of Fulton, Missouri passed away on October 5, 2018 at Boone Hospital Center in Columbia, Missouri. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10, 2018 at Debo Funeral Home in Fulton. Burial will follow at Callaway Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive guests from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Felix was born on October 27, 1939 in Tipton, Missouri to the late Carl and Esther Kolb Mertens. He was a graduate of Grant School in Williamsburg and became a partner and owner of Mertens Construction Company until his retirement in 1996.

Felix enjoyed hunting, fishing and grilling and hosting steak dinner parties. He will be remembered as a helpful man with a big heart who also loved to go dancing and spending time with his friends. He is survived by six brothers and sisters, Bernard (Evelyn) Mertens of Columbia, Carolyn Gross of the state of California, Grace (Robert) Amirea of Ava, Misssouri, Michael “Mickey” (Barb) Mertens of Fulton, Susan (Carroll) Mealy of Kingdom City, Missouri and Carl “Rusty” (Lou Ann) Mertens of Russellville, Missouri, sister-in-law, Karen Mertens along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Felix was also preceded in death by four brothers and sisters, Ruth Ann Harrell, Dolores Albers, Kenneth Mertens and Bernadette Maas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Shriners Hospital for Children both in care of Debo Funeral Home, 833 Court Street, Fulton, Missouri 65251. online condolences may be made at www.
