OBITUARY Flora C. Juarros April 8, 1928 – November 15, 2018 Flora C. Juarros May 4, 1928 – November 15, 2018 Flora Chavez was born to Teresa Sandoval and Tomas Chavez on May 8, 1928 in Wagon Mound, New Mexico where she lived with her 8 brothers and sisters and attended Wagon Mound Public Schools. She and Juan Juarros II were wedded on May 4, 1944. They owned and worked a service station in Wagon Mound until 1963, when they moved with their three sons Juan III, Ralph, and George to Las Vegas, New Mexico.
While in Las Vegas, Flora not only helped with the Service Station but managed a small clothing boutique. The two of them then pursued new business ventures, building a liquor store and a beauty shop. Flora loved this business and, as an innovator, set up a spa and exercise center for her employees and customers.
While in Las Vegas, they were blessed with 7 grandchildren: Janna, Jennifer, Juan IV, James, Rafael, George II, and Genine. When Juan retired, they moved to Colorado Springs. Flora then channeled her working ambitions to the restaurant business.
During the next 20 years she was a great hostess for local buffets. Her customers followed her from one buffet to another, because she was such a gracious, helpful person, who cared deeply for her customers. Flora and Juan were also blessed with 12 great-grandchildren: Brendon and Kyle Juarros, Alec and Tristan Sickenger, Michaela Keeline, Jesse and Cody Juarros, Apollonia, Joaquin and Estevan Ibarra, Juan V and Quincie Juarros, as well as 2 step grandsons Milan and Mikah Laufer, and 1 great, great-grandson Jaden Juarros.
This year Flora and Juan celebrated their 74th wedding anniversary. On November 15, 2018, Flora passed quietly in her sleep at home at the age of 90. Flora is survived by her husband Juan and her sons, John, Ralph and Janet, and George and Marthe.
John’s wife Judy passed a few days before Flora, and one grandchild James passed several years ago. Also deceased are brother Tomas Chavez and sisters Teresa Cordova and Olivia Herrera. She is also survived by 2 sisters, their husbands, 3 brothers and their wives: Sam and Pam Clouthier, Chris and Victoria Arrerano, Lenny and Sharon Chavez, Paul and Eileen Chavez, Jimmy and Judy Chavez.
Also surviving Flora are numerous nieces and nephews and a large extended family in New Mexico and Colorado. The family wishes to thank her neighbors, friends and extensive acquaintances. We also wish to especially thank Ellen and Fabiola from Adobe Hospice who were there in her last days and hours ministering to and caring lovingly for Mom.
Flora will be laid to rest on Saturday, November 24 at Memorial Gardens Cemetery, 3825 Airport Road in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Viewing will begin at 9:00 am. The service will start at 11:00 am followed by a graveside ceremony.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers. There will be a reception following the events, location to be announced at the service.
