Forrest Walker Huff, 96, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on January 7th. He was preceded in death by Dolores Seither Huff, wife of 41 years and then by Libby McGill, loving companion of 19 years. Professionally, after serving in the Army from 1943-1946, Forrest spent almost 40 years at the Harper Company, leading the company that built runways at 5 major airports including CVG, developing subdivisions in our communities, and pouring over 200 miles of interstate highways.

He was active in the Ohio Contractors Association, serving on the Board of Directors and was inducted into their Hall of Fame in 1982. Forrest was also a deacon at the Madeira Silverwood Presbyterian Church and a member of the Masons, The Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati and the Syrian Shrine. Personally, he was a passionate fan of his college almae matres, firstly to The Ohio State University (1949) and The University of Cincinnati (1953).

Forrest was a lifelong Buckeye season ticket holder, member of the OSU President’s Club and actually lived in “The Shoe” as a student. His love for the Buckeyes was matched only by his love for the Bengals, he was a season ticket holder since the team’s inception in 1968. Forrest attended Lot D pregame tailgates and football games well into his 90’s.

Forrest’s love of sports continued through his 48-year membership at Maketewah Country Club where he was, in his words, “an avid (but not good) golfer”. He spent his final days with family. Christmas Eve found him stealing fudge from one of his 8 grandchildren in a white elephant gift exchange.

8 great-grandchildren were treated to harmonica lessons from “Papa Forrest” after opening presents on Christmas Day. Monday night Forrest was comforted knowing that his 9th great-grand child would be welcomed into the world within hours of his passing, and that he would have the honor of sharing his name with the new baby. Celebration of life to be held at Vorhis & Ryan Funeral Home in Springdale, Ohio.
