Obituary for Mr. Forrest W. Rosser Jr. Forrest W. Rosser Jr., a prominent attorney of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, 89, died on April 21, 2018 at Alden Poplar Creek. Loving husband for 60 years of Curran Rosser, nee Lamar; devoted father of Forrest W. (Nancy) Rosser III, Julie (Pete) Mahowald, Michael J. (Julienne) Rosser and Lucy (Michael) Marquardt; cherished grandfather of Annabelle Rosser, Madeline Rosser, Curran Mahowald, Austin Mahowald, Emily Rosser, Kevin Rosser, Lauren Marquardt and Brian Marquardt; Mr. Rosser attended Notre Dame University and received a bachelor’s degree in English from Michigan State University. He received a Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Iowa, College of Law.

He first practiced law in the U.S. Navy and then in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, for over 50 years. He was last associated with the law firm of Terpstra and Epping in Cedar Rapids. He served in the U.S. Naval Reserve in the Western Pacific aboard the Aircraft Carrier Wasp with Fighter Squadron 152 and at Alameda, California, and as a member of the Admiral’s Staff of Commander Fleet Air Alameda.

Mr. Rosser served on the Regis High School Board of Education as President and was appointed by the Governor of Iowa to be on the first, Non-Public Schools State Advisory Committee and served as its Chairman. He was a member of All Saints Catholic Church and served as a lector, choir member and member of the Stewardship Committee. He was honored as a fifty year member of the Iowa State and Linn County Bar Associations in 2005.
