Obituary for Frances “”Fran”” Gromek (Orisko) Frances Gromek, 90 of Oakland and formerly of South Side, died Sunday, April 15, 2018. She was born April 14, 1928 in Penowa, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Roman Orisko. Prior to retirement, Mrs. Gromek was employed as a dental assistant for various oral surgeons throughout the Pittsburgh area.

She was a member of St. Paul’s Cathedral in Pittsburgh, where she served as a lector. Mrs. Gromek was an active volunteer for Catholic Charities. Surviving are her grandson, John (Samantha) Fair, her granddaughter, Angela Johnson, her sister, Adeline Pappas of Burgettstown, her brother, Rudy Orisko of Cross Creek, her great-grandchildren, Jason Jr, Michael, Andrew, Joseph, and Zoey, her great-great- grandchildren, Jason III, Ian, and Kimbella.

Deceased are her son, Peter A. Gromek, Jr, her daughter, Polly Fair, her brother, Eddie Orisko, her sisters, Gloria Wojcik, Lillian Kubas, Theresa Brown, Dorothy Lerby, and Helen D’Alassander, and many nieces and nephews. At the request of the deceased, all services will be private.
