Mrs. Frances Griffin Womack, 94, of Tifton, died Saturday, February 23, 2019, at Tift Regional Medical Center. Her funeral service will be held at 11:30 A.M. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Chula on Tuesday, February 26, 2019 with Rev.

Larry Layfield and Rev. Aaron Frasier officiating. The family will receive friends before the service on Tuesday from 9:30 – 11:00 A.M. The interment will follow in the Mt.

Zion Church Cemetery. Mrs. Womack’s grandsons, Trey Womack, Jason Womack, Justin Womack, John Womack, David Walker, Jordan Walker and Dru Womack will serve as pallbearers. Her nephews will serve as honorary pallbearers.

She was born July 12, 1924, to Henry Anderson Griffin and Frankie Cravey Griffin. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-four years, L. A. Womack, Sr., her son, L. A. Womack, Jr., and her ten siblings, Ralph Griffin, Henry Griffin, Charles Griffin, Benjamin Griffin, R. D. Griffin, Raleigh Griffin, Ronald Griffin, Elizabeth Carrington, Doris Graves, and Hester Whiddon. Mrs. Womack was a homemaker who was a wonderful cook and enjoyed sharing many homemade dishes with her family and friends.

She wrote three cookbooks so others could enjoy her favorite recipes. One of her most enjoyable pastimes was playing cards with a special group of ladies. She loved her family and her church.

Survivors include her son and daughters-in-law; Roger and Lavonda Womack of Tifton and Diane Ruis Womack of Tifton, her six grandchildren and their spouses; Nikki and David Walker, Tiffany and Brian Mills, Trey and Christie Womack, Jason and Erin Womack, Justin and Meghan Womack, John and Meredith Womack and eleven great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Millie Griffin Gilmore, of Albany. The family would like to express their appreciation to Von Pitts, her caregiver, for her devotion and love.

Flowers will be accepted or donations may be made to Mt. Zion Baptist Church, 293 Mt. Zion Church Road, Chula, GA 31733.
