Frances Jewell Brown Baker, 92, affectionately known as “GG”, passed away Friday, July 27, 2018, at her home in Morningside Assisted Living, Hopkinsvile, KY. Born November 5, 1925, in Louisville, KY, to the late Harry D. Brown, Sr. and Caryl Lovell Brown Mercer Perry, she was a lifelong resident of Greenville, KY, and member of the First Baptist Church of Greenville. For the past nine years, her home has been Morningside Assisted Living of Hopkinsville.

A Celebration Her Life… Read More » will be held on Saturday, August 4, 2018, 11:00 AM, at Hughart, Beard & Giles Funeral Home, Hopkinsville, KY, with visitation at the Funeral Home from 9:30 AM until time of the Service. Burial will be held at a later time in Evergreen Cemetery, Greenville, KY. Frances Brown Baker was a graduate of Greenville High School.

She received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Murray State University, and did her post graduate work at the University of Florida. She was a lifelong student and teacher of Science. She taught Biology at Tilghman High School in Paducah, KY, and Science Discovery at University Heights Academy, Hopkinsville, KY.

During World War II, Mrs. Baker worked at Oak Ridge, TN, in the chemistry lab of Building Y12. Mrs. Baker was a farmer, a oil and gas developer, a real estate Broker and owner of Baker Real Estate, Greenville, KY. , and a loving and devoted Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Great-Grandmother and Friend.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 39 years, Charles Baker, Jr., and her brothers, Harry D. Brown, Jr. and Edward Lovell Mercer. She is survived by her daughters, Anna Caryl Baker Guffey, and her husband Danny, Hopkinsville, KY, and Jean Baker Mansfield, Louisville, KY, her three Grandchildren, Allison Guffey Caldwell, and her husband Shaun, Brunswick, GA, Russ Guffey, and his wife Mandy, Hopkinsville, KY, and Elizabeth Mansfield Matly, and her husband Steven, Louisville, KY, her seven Great-grandchildren, Chaney Guffey, Laiken Guffey and Adler Guffey, Hopkinsville, KY, and Christopher Gentile, Katie Matly, Caroline Matly and Allie Matly, Louisville, KY, her Morningside Family and her Beloved Caregivers and Hospice “Angels”. Memorials may be made to Pennyroyal Hospice, Inc., 220 Burley Drive, Hopkinsville, KY 42240.
