OBITUARY Frances Siler February 1, 1934 – December 11, 2018 Frances Siler, age 84, of Hixson, TN died Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at Dominion Assisted Living. Frances was born Frances Wilson Buck to David Leroy and Cora Lee (McMurray) Buck on February 1, 1934 in Nashville, TN. Frances was of the Catholic Faith and a member of the St Jude Catholic Church.

She was a much-loved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Marion Siler, Jr. Frank and Frances met when they both worked in Oak Ridge, TN at the Union Carbide Y-12 Plant. Frances, after graduating from Oak Ridge High School in 1952, was recruited to work for Union Carbide so that she could pitch on their softball team.

In addition to softball, Frances played basketball and bowled. She was well known in the Hixson bowling leagues during the 1970s and 80s, with a high game of 255. Frances was an avid sports fan, cheering on the Atlanta Braves and the Tennessee Volunteers.

In addition to her parents and husband, Frances was preceded in death by sisters, Jane Troutman and Elizabeth (Libby) Buck, and brother, David Leroy Buck, Jr She is survived by her sisters, Mary Ann Smith and Ginny (Troy Ivy) Buck and brother, Sam (Chris) Buck. Frances is also survived by her 6 children; Patti (Butch) Wade of East Ridge, TN, Frank Siler III and James (Diann) Siler of Hixson, TN, Stanley (Cheri) Siler of Knoxville, TN, Peggy (Ed) Kirby of Decatur, AL and Thomas Siler of Hixson, TN.

Frances had 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Frances’ home was always open to her children and grandchildren’s friends and she loved running into ‘her Hixson kids’ and getting ‘hey mom’ or ‘hey Granny’ hugs. Everyone who knew Frances loved her spunk and her smile.

Visitation and services for Frances will be at Chattanooga Funeral Home with visitation from 11 am to 1 pm at Chattanooga Funeral Home, North Chapel with funeral services following at 1 pm. Interment will follow at Hamilton Memorial Gardens, 5351 HWY 153, Hixson, TN.
