Frances Udene Riffer, 87 of Alanson, died December 2, 2018. Fran was born August 3, 1931, the daughter of Edward and Dulice (Moose) Kidder. She married William Riffer in 1950 and began raising a family of her own.

Fran worked at the Petoskey JC Penney for 35 years. During her time there she held pretty much every position and performed each task with pride. In her spare time, Fran loved to play cards.

She especially loved to play pinochle, pokeno and skip-bo. Fran is survived by her children, Joyce (Cray) Schlehuber, Gail (William) Spratley, Edward (Jennifer) Riffer, Kevin (Luann) Riffer, William (Mary) Riffer, and Eric (Chris) Riffer; brother, Wayne Kidder; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Riffer; and brothers, Douglas Kidder and Gale Kidder.

The family is planning a graveside service in Spring 2019, details will be announced at that time.
