Frances Marie Upchurch Brown, 91 of Sanford passed away Sunday December 9, 2018. Funeral services will be held at 1:00pm Thursday at Lemon Springs Baptist Church. Burial will follow in the Church Cemetery.

Mrs. Brown was born in Harnett Co, daughter of the late Simeon Addison Upchurch and Iola Miriam Dew Upchurch. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Walter Lee Brown, son Harold Ray Brown, infant daughter Brenda Kay Brown, sisters Elvira Wilburn and Callie Cates, also preceded by sisters-in-law Mamie Wilson and Ruby Cranford and brother-in-law Cecil Brown. For many years she worked in retail and served as a nanny and housekeeper.

She was a longtime active member of Lemon Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed sending cards to her church family and friends. She loved working with flowers, reading, and crocheting.

Enjoyed her last year with residents at Brookdale Assisted Living in Pinehurst. Mrs. Brown is survived by daughters, Marie McLendon (John) and Marguerite Macerolle (Marc); sisters, Rachel Bennett and Betty Bennett (Nelson); grandchildren, Jeffery McLendon, Jamie McAlpin (Nick), and Jennifer Eudy; great-grandchildren, Stella McAlpin and Sadie Tally; many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends in the Fellowship Hall following the service.
