Francis “Fritz” John Knoble June 06, 1927 – May 16, 2019 Share this obituary Send Sympathy Gifts Upload Photo| Sign Guestbook| Send Sympathy Card| Memorial Donation Francis “Fritz” John Knoble, 91 years of age, and a lifetime resident of Henrietta Township, passed away Thursday, May 16, 2019 at New Life Hospice Center in Lorain, following a brief illness. He was born June 6, 1927 in Amherst, raised in Henrietta Township, graduating from Henrietta High School with the class of 1945. He proudly served in the United States Army.

Fritz was employed at Sliman’s Chrystler/Dodge for over fifty years in Auto Sales. He served as the Henrietta Township Fiscal Officer and a founding member and board advisor for the North Central Lorain County Ambulance Service. Fritz was an active member of Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in South Amherst.

His hobbies included gardening, reading and had a genuine love for people. Fritz enjoyed vacationing at his cottage in Canada. He was a member of the Vermilion Amvets Post #22 and the Firelands Lions Club where he received the Melvin Jones Award.

Survivors include his daughters Cheryl (William) Shaffer of Wakeman and Barbara Hicks of Henrietta Township; his grandchildren Carrie Jaskiewicz, Betsy Bailey (Chip), Sarah Bohannen (Al), Sean Hicks (Becky) and Hannah Hicks; five great grandchildren; and his brother Larry Knoble of Arizona. . He was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-seven years Arlene Rose Knoble (nee: Holzhauer) on February 10, 2007; his brothers Dan Knoble and Joe Knoble; his sister Virginia Siekers; his son in law Phillip Hicks; and his parents Joseph L. and Grace E. Knoble (nee: Behringer).

Friends may call Monday, May 20, 2019, from 4-8 p.m. at the Hempel Funeral Home; 373 Cleveland Ave. , Amherst. Closing Prayers will be held Tuesday at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. at Nativity Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church; 333 South Lake Street, South Amherst.

The Rev. Timothy O’Connor, pastor will officiate. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, Amherst.
