Frank J. Haupt, 83, of Mandan, passed away on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at Sunset Drive Prospera in Mandan. Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 am on Monday, May 21, 2018 at The Church of St. Joseph, Mandan, ND with Reverend Shane Campbell as celebrant. Burial will be at the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery, Mandan, ND.

Visitation will be held Sunday, May 20, 2018 from 4:00-7:00 pm at Weigel Funeral Home with a Rosary and Parish Vigil beginning 6:00 pm. Frank was born to Matz and Eva (Bauer) Haupt on February 3, 1935 in Richardton, ND. He was raised on the family farm while attending the nearby country school.

He was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic Faith. Frank served in the US Marines from 1956 to 1960. Frank married JoAnn M. Buchta on Aug 7, 1960.

They made their home in Mandan, North Dakota. Frank worked for Vantine’s and later became self-employed as a flooring installer. Frank was a member of the Mandan Jaycees, where he served as a director, and president of the local chapter.

He was a regional vice president of the ND Jaycees. He was also a member of the local Elks, Eagles, and Knights of Columbus. Stemming from his childhood, Frank had a passion for raising horses.

In his spare time, he enjoyed playing cards with friends. Frank is survived by daughters, Dawn (Richard)Ressler, Elk River, MN, Pamela (Timothy) Buley, Mankato, MN, Peggy (Randy) Ressler, Mandan, ND, and son, Frank Jr. (Norman) Golden, CO. He is also survived by 5 grandchildren and 3 great- grandchildren; sister, Leoda Cole, Mora, MN; brother, Donald Haupt, Algona, WA; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Matz and Eva, sisters: Annie, Katie, Leona, Marion, and brothers: William, Thomas, Philip, and Benedict. Frank’s family would like to extend their gratitude to the Staff at Sunset Drive Prospera for the compassion they showed him during the last weeks of his life.
