Frank James Cascio, Jr. of Hattiesburg, Mississippi August 8, 1938 – March 7, 2019 Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary for Frank James Cascio, Jr., 80 of Hattiesburg, who passed away on Thursday, March 7, 2019 at the Asbury House in Hattiesburg. Brother Chad Cummins and Brother Wayne Woolwine will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Bullock Cemetery in Seminary. Special music will be provided by Mr. James Earl Clark and Mr. Bob Thames.
Billy M. King-Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Collins will be in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 9, 2019 at the Evergreen Baptist Church Cemetery in Seminary. Pallbearers will be Ethan Cascio, Joseph Lott, Bo Cascio, Jimmy Lee Lott, Michael Cascio, and Josiah Lawrence.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jimmy Lott, Keith Cascio, Al Cascio, Sam Cascio, Mark Cascio, Darden Bond, Vernon Robert Bond, Glen Cascio, and Wayne Bond. Mr. Cascio was born on August 8, 1938 in San Jose, California. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, and grandfather.
Mr. Cascio’s passion per se has always been work. At a very young age he worked with his brothers on the family farm, then at age 17 his father started a sawmill for making broom handles. When he was 22 he started working for Jitney Jungle Grocery Store and was Market Manager for many years.
He also owned and operated Cascio’s Meat Market and Grocery for numerous years. Mr. Cascio sold Gulf Gas and special cuts of meat at an old fashioned meat counter. Mr. Cascio particularly enjoyed his grandchildren, gardening, mowing, bush hogging, and all things farm.
His little dog, Cricket, given to him by his son, Jeff, brought him many hours of companionship along with Turner Classic Movies of Cowboys and Indians. He was a member of the Sanford Missionary Baptist Church but attended Evergreen Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Cascio, Sr. and Mary Taormina Cascio; his son, Morris Jeffery Cascio; and two brothers, Joe Cascio and Phillip Cascio.
Survivors include his wife of fifty-seven years, Dorothy Bond Cascio of Hattiesburg; one daughter, Lisa Cascio Lott, and her husband, Jimmy Lee of Hattiesburg; two brothers, Sam Cascio of Petal, and Alfred Cascio of Hattiesburg; four grandchildren, Ethan Cascio (Toni Turner), Mary Hannah Lott Lawrence (Josiah), Joseph Kyle Lott, and Anna Grace Cascio Lott; one great-grandchild, Natalie Nicole Cascio; and a host of nieces and nephews.
