Sellersburg, Indiana Frank “Sarge” Long, 93, entered eternal life on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Clark Memorial Hospital. He served his country honorably in the United States Navy during WWII and retired from Louisville Police Department after 39 ½ years of service. Sarge was a former Kentucky State Hand Ball Champion, 32nd Degree Shriner, Kentucky Colonel, member of the Sellersburg Moose Lodge and Silver Streaker’s Club at the YMCA.

He is preceded in death by two brothers, Walter and William Long and an infant son, Frank Long, Jr. Surviving are his wife, Virginia Long, Sellersburg, sons, Walter (Jean) Long, Lebanon, Tennessee, Bobby (Deborah) Long, Louisville, step-sons, William (Tammy) Bailey, Sellersburg, Jeff (Carla) Bailey, Jeffersonville, step-daughters, Sherri Balmer, Charlestown, Karen McRae, New Albany, brother, Sam (Helen) Long, Louisville, eleven grandchildren and eight, great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held 11AM Saturday at the Garr Funeral Home in Sellersburg with burial to follow at Sellersburg Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 12-8PM and anytime after 9AM until the time of service on Saturday.
