Gale D. Carter, 82, a lifelong resident of Altoona, Kansas died Wednesday, December 5, 2018 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita, Kansas. Gale was born August 4, 1936 on the farm outside of Altoona to Claude Carter and Mable (Wiles) Carter. He graduated from Altoona High School in 1954.

He enjoyed spending time with his family and checking his crops and livestock. He is survived by his wife Retha, of the home, two daughters, Leeann Carter of Altoona, Kansas, Connie Cooper and husband Kevin of Chanute, Kansas, one son, Lynn Carter and wife Carrie of Thayer, Kansas, granddaughter, Sarah Bruner and husband Mike of Chanute, Kansas, grandsons, Jerrod Myers and wife Tanya of Chanute, Kansas, Dakota Carter of Altoona, Kansas, Caden Carter of Thayer, Kansas, Chance Carter of Thayer, Kansas, great granddaughter, Makenzie Leroy, Tessa Leach and Haisley Myers all of Chanute, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dean Carter, sister, Margie Carter and granddaughter, Ashley Carter.

Cremation has taken place. The family will receive friends Sunday, December 9, 2018 from 3:00 P.M. until 5:00 P.M. at Wickham Family Funeral Home, 510 North 7th, Fredonia, Kansas 66736. Memorial remembrances are suggested to Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center and they may be left or mailed to the funeral Home.
