Obituary for Galen “JR” Russell Galen Odell Russell, Jr., age 57, passed away in Marshall, Texas on December 5, 2018. JR was born in Carthage, Texas on February 27, 1961 to Galen Odell Russell, Sr. and Wilma Joy (Harris) Russell. He is preceded in death by his son, Wes Russell; his parents, Galen and Wilma Russell; his sister, Dana Meyer and his best friend, David Gray.

He is survived by his wife, Robin Russell; his sons, Trey Russell (Katie), Kyle Russell (Kendl), and their mother, Deb Dickard Russell; his daughters, Rebecca Willett (Alex) and Jennifer Tamez (Leon); his grandchildren, who affectionately called him “Pappy”, Haley Russell, Hanna Moore, Steven Haren, John Gideon, Paul Gideon, Evelyn Russell, Wesley Russell, Alivia Briggs, Kylee Russell, Jillian Silkwood and Mia Tamez; his great-grandchild, Jasper Haren; his brothers and sisters, Sue Lovelace (Lloyd), Randy Russell (Dena), Penny Dailey (Shawn) and his brother-in-law, Tom Meyer. JR was a graduate of Marshall High School with the Class of 1979. He worked many years as a crane operator.

JR loved to dance, loved to play golf, loved people and never met a stranger, but his true passion in life was his family. A celebration of his life will be held from 6-8pm on Sunday, December 9, 2018 at Meadowbrook Funeral Home. Online condolences may be offered at www.
