Obituary for Gary Kent “Ferg” Ferguson Gary…what can’t we say, he was always that child leaping from unimageable heights. It might have been the high from his mom’s homemade bread or the fever from the chili beans; however, this fierce love of life developed into a passionate and competitive nature that we all witnessed through his love of all things athletic. He graduated from high school as a proud 1975 Stratford Elk, then he found himself in Lubbock acquiring tuition from Dennis Brothers Printers.

When the Dennis brothers witnessed Gary take a printing press apart and successfully put it all back together again, they knew they had to hire him! In 1981 he hopped on the DuMoore Office Supply and Printing train working alongside his loving parents Esther and Ronny Ferguson. While in Dumas, Texas he married the mother of his two children, Sharon Ferguson.

Felicia D’Nae and Landon Ronny Ferguson have always been a focus of pride in his life. His step daughter Summer Joyce Daharsh is a loving older sister to both. Between these three kids, there are many cherished memories.

Gary eventually found himself in San Antonio Texas, working at Clear Visions Incorporated, Freeman Printing and Avon Behren Printing Company, with many of his dearest friends. A merger between Avon Behren and Cenveo allowed Gary to proudly secure an Executive Vice President and General Manager position within their San Antonio Division. His dedication to the printing business was profound, he was trusted to venture to Heidelberg, Germany and purchase machinery necessary to increase production.

Gary Ferguson had the greatest respect and admiration for his parents, Ronny and Esther. They instilled in him his incredible work ethic, his values and the moral code by which he lived his life. He treasured and honored them.

Gary’s commitment to hard work and his passion for life significantly impacted many people’s lives. His daughter, Felicia always took his advice. Just to work hard and be good to your employees.

His son, Landon acquired his knack for fixing things. Gary always knew his son was a “tinkerer,” and his daughter a hard worker. Gary was a loving big brother to his siblings, Donavon and ViAnn.

Gary was baptized alongside his brother Donavon in 1969 at First Baptist Church of Stratford, Texas. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Stratford Education Foundation and to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation. www.
