Obituary for Gary Preston Bruton Denver, CO – Gary Preston Bruton, age 76, of Denver, Colorado, formerly of Charlotte, died on Saturday, March 31 at his home surrounded by his family. Gary was born on July 3, 1941 in Thomasville, NC to the late Jake Tyler Bruton and Kathleen Beck Bruton. He was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years, Mary Jane Haley Bruton of Charlotte.

He is survived by his son, Christopher Tyler Bruton of Denver, his sister Marlene Paumen of Birmingham, AL, husband Dave Paumen and their children Charity Paumen, Angela Fox and Zac Paumen. Gary grew up in Thomasville, NC and graduated from Thomasville, High School before attending the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Following college, Gary served in the US Navy aboard the USS Shangri-La.

Gary also enjoyed an extensive sales career at Bruning Corporation, AM International, Xerox and finally Lowes Corporation. An avid lover of music, Gary played both the saxophone and the ukulele. He was an original season ticket holder of the Charlotte Hornets, Carolina Panthers and the Charlotte Knights as well as a die-hard fan of his beloved Carolina Tarheels.

Blessed with a wonderful sense of humor his entire life, Gary always lightened the room. He will be dearly missed by all of his family, his extended family and his friends. Services will be held Saturday, April 7 at 11:00 A.M. at the Heritage Funeral Home, Weddington Chapel immediately followed by burial at Forest Lawn East Cemetery.
