GARY THOMPSON May 02, 1937 – February 28, 2019 Sign Guestbook| Send Private Condolences| Send Sympathy Card Vassar–Gary Dean Thompson, 81, passed away on Thursday, February 28, 2019 at his home near Vassar, Kansas. He was born on May 2, 1937 near Michigan Valley, Kansas, the son of Ernest and Eunice Warren Thompson. Gary lived most of his life around the Michigan Valley community and had lived near Vassar for the last nine years.

Gary worked for DuPont in Topeka for over 30 years and always farmed and raised cattle. He was a leader in 4-H for many years. Gary was married to Barbara Johnson in 1957.

They later divorced. He married Linda Neill in December of 1987 in Overbrook. Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Eunice; by his brother, Joe Thompson; and by his sister, Shirley Lindbloom.

Gary is survived by his wife Linda of the home; his two sons, Gary (Bonnie) Thompson of Osage City and Ed (Penny) Thompson of Pomona; his two daughters, Susan Cassity of Hastings, Nebraska and Jessica Watts of Quenemo; his sister, Sharon (Gary) Tucker of Cabot, Arkansas; eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren with one on the way. Funeral services for Gary will be at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 2 at the Feltner Funeral Chapel in Lyndon. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until service time.

Burial will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery at Pomona. Memorial contributions may be made to Hand In Hand Hospice, sent in care of Feltner Funeral Home, 818 Topeka Avenue, Lyndon, KS. 66451.
