Gay Whitaker Scism, 72, of Shelby, passed away Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at her home. Born in Cleveland County, on August 19, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Burgin Columbus Whitaker and Elsie Mae White Whitaker. She was retired from Eaton Corporation and a member of Mull’s Memorial Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Johnny Odus Scism and brother, Donald Whitaker. She is survived by her son, John Scism and wife Lori… Read More » of Kings Mountain; daughter, Beth McCoy and husband Thomas of Shelby; five grandchildren, Jennifer Scism, Jordan McCoy, Meleah McCoy, Colton McCoy, and Bella McCoy. Private Services were held.
