Mr. Gayle Burch, 84, passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2019. He was born in Yadkin County on November 3, 1934 to Duella Shore Burch. Gayle was a Christian man and a true believer in the Bible.

He graduated from Jonesville High School in 1952, where he played football. Gayle worked for Chatham Manufacturing Company for 13 years and then retired from Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company after 30 years. Gayle was at one-time the Mayor and Fire Chief of Arlington for many years.

He was a big sports fan and especially loved UNC Tarheels. Gayle enjoyed drinking coffee, fishing, and spending time outdoors. He will be dearly missed by his family.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eurlene Shoemaker (James); brother, Charles “Curly” Eugene Burch; and numerous extended family members. Surviving family includes his only daughter, Gala Tompkins (K.L.); grandchildren, Derrick Simcox (Jessica) and Misty Jarvis (Marty); step-grandchildren, Chase and Spencer Sheek; great-grandchildren, Dezha Simcox and Allie Jarvis; sister-in-law, Peggy Burch; nephews, Mickey Shoemaker and Larry Shoemaker; nieces, Debbie Hardy, Teresa Davis, and Michael Burch; and special friend, Wanda Sheek. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Jonesville Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Tim Wolfe officiating.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm to 1:45 pm prior to the service at the church.
