Gbolabo Omoleye Adewunmi (née Adeleye) transitioned into glory on May 13, 2019, surrounded by her family. Born on December 17, 1974, she grew up in Lagos, Nigeria and lived in Memphis, Tennessee over the last six years. She graduated from University of Ibadan with a Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, and earned a Graduate Diploma in Chemical Engineering from University of Lagos.

Gbolabo was an embodiment of grace, strength and resilience. Her hope was firmly fixed on her Lord Jesus Christ, even as she went through a brave fight with cancer. She was a loving wife, a dream mother, a wonderful daughter, an irreplaceable sibling, a good relative and friend, and a genuinely great person.

Gbolabo was a committed educator and impacted many children — from the daycare center and high school, to kids’ church. She loved to bake and cook, and enjoyed playing scrabble with family. Gbolabo had a great sense of humor and had a signature laugh that will not be forgotten.

Gbolabo will be forever remembered by her husband, Adetokunbo Adewunmi; children: Eniola, Tide, Tolu and Omajuwa; parents, Idowu and Augusta Adeleye; siblings: Adeola, Gboyega, Ifedapo, Ayomikun, Babasola and Titilola; numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews and extended family. She will also be fondly remembered by her dear friends and church family in Nigeria and the U.S. A Service of Songs will be held on Friday, May 24, 2019 from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park, 2440 Whitten Road, Memphis, TN 38133, following the Viewing/Visitation that will be between 5:00 and 7:00 pm. Interment will be in Forest Hill Funeral Home & Memorial Park on Saturday, May 25, at 10:00 a.m. Thanksgiving and Reception will follow immediately after, around 12 noon, at the Faith Hall, Germantown Baptist Church, 9450 Poplar Avenue, Germantown, TN 38139.
