Gene Franklin Patton Sr., age 86, died Thursday, February 14, 2019 at his home in the Asbury Community of Sanford. He was born in Burke County, NC on July 3, 1932 to the late Charlie Logan Patton and Della Minerva Epley Patton. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn Lee Speagle Patton and numerous siblings.

Gene served our country in the United State Army and was a member of the Camden, SC American Legion for close to 50 years. He was also a long-term Mason. Gene owned and operated Patton’s Construction Company in Lugoff, SC.

He was known to be a workaholic and could grow anything. He could take a stick and make it grow into something beautiful. He is survived by his sons Gene “Tank” Franklin Patton II and wife Melinda of Lugoff, SC, Robert Patton and wife Peggy of Lugoff, SC; daughters Donna Dobbins and husband John Linder of West Columbia, SC, Lisa McDaniel and husband Randy of Hubert, NC; brother Jim Patton and wife Judy of Nebo, NC; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Bridges-Cameron Funeral Home, Saturday, February 16, 2019 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. A graveside service will be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1659 Kershaw Hwy. , Camden, SC 29020 on Sunday, February 17th at 3:00 PM with Rev.

Donald Burns officiating.
